This photograph was obtained by Roger Gilbert from the Hagley Museum.
It depicts the large, brick Charcoal House and in the background can
be seen
the Keg House. These buildings were located just down the road
from
current-day Powder Glen, and foundations may be seen today. Many
of the
bricks of the Charcoal House were taken by local folks to use in various
building projects. Today, it is mostly a pile of bricks, and
one has to use
imagination to visualize the large (approximately 120 feet long) building
of
yesteryear.
